Is This a Real Mowgli…Or The Bravest Kid Ever? Either Way, You’ll be Amazed.
Mowgli has always been one of the most-loved characters from children’s literature. Everyone loved the Jungle Book cartoon series. But when we heard about the real-life Mowgli character, we could not stop to publish this post.
Its a girl, Tippi Benjamine Okanti Degré (born 4 June 1990). Her parents’profession and their work in Africa made the young girl’s childhood unique.
Tippi’s story and her pictures are so profound that you’d want to keep looking at them forever. Who wouldn’t want to have had such an amazing childhood?
Take a look!
She was born in Namibia to French wildlife photographer parents and spent her childhood among wild animals and tribes people.
Riding a five-ton elephant, whom she called ‘my brother’, chilling with a cheetah or hugging a giant bullfrog as if it was a Teddy bear. The childhood of this French girl seems more like a newer version of Mowgli. Tippi spent her whole childhood playing with wild animals including lion cubs, a mongoose, a snake, a cheetah, baby zebra, giraffes and crocodiles. The little girl saw nothing unusual about her company:
Her parents named her after actress Tippi Hedren, who is said to have kept fully-grown lions as pets in her home, and little Tippi was no different from her namesake, demonstrating early on the ability to form unusual bonds with the creatures of the wild. Linda, a tamed ostrich in South Africa takes Tippi for a ride on a sunny day. “I don’t have friends here. Because I never see children. So the animals are my friends,” she once said. Tippi aged 6 sitting with J&B, a tame adult leopard in Namibia.
Tippi is a young women now, and the only child to wildlife photographer parents Sylvie Robert and Alain Degre, who published her photos in a book called Tippi of Africa. “It was magical to be able to be free in this nature with this child. She was a very lucky little girl – she was born and raised until the age of 10 totally in the wild.” said Sylvie.
Check her amazing journey.
